Your Thorough and Detailed Oriented Eye Doctor "My entire family has been using Richard Sterling as our eye doctor for the past three years. I switched from my previous eye doctor because Dr. Sterling takes his time to be thorough and is very detail oriented. He has a very caring attitude and answers all of our questions. I highly recommend Dr. Richard Sterling."

Your Family Eye Doctor (with GREAT magazines!) "Dr. Sterling truly has a full service practice. He provides eye care for our family of four. My husband began seeing him after our previous eye care professional moved to Florida and recommended Dr. Sterling as his successor. During my husband's first eye exam, Dr. Sterling noticed some issues regarding his peripheral vision. He extensively tested Mark to make sure that he did not have some sort of serious eye disease. It turned out that he did not, but we certainly appreciated the fact that Dr. Sterling took the abnormal test results and followed up on them rather than simply ignoring them. I would much rather discover a vision problem in the early stages than to hear the words, "if we had only seen this sooner...".
Both of our daughters see Dr. Sterling for their eye care. Our oldest, Katie, was fitted for contact lens at an eye doctor who advertised himself as specializing in children and teens. Unfortunately, the lens fitting was an unpleasant and nerve wracking experience. At one point, the technician told Katie (who was approximately 14 years old at the time) to "get busy and get the contact in your eye". She then reported hearing the same impatient technician discussing her upcoming back procedure. It was understandable to me, on some level, that the tech was worried. As a mother, however, I could not accept the fact that she allowed her own personal problems to interfere with her job of helping my daughter. We had quite the opposite experience when Dr. Sterling fitted my younger daughter with contact lens. He taught her to put in her contacts with Dr. Sterling and was at ease - I think the people in the office even made it kind of fun.
I presented my own special challenge to Dr. Sterling when, at 49 years young, I developed shingles on my face. He was able to see me immediately (as in "drive over now") to rule out actual eye involvement. When I presented myself at his office, I looked as if a truck had parked on my face (ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration) and I had a weepy, seeping (you get the picture) rash on my face and eye. No one flinched when I walked in and everyone was understanding and kind.
Finally, I have to say that Dr. Sterling has the best magazine selection in his office of any doctor that I have visited! Certainly, that is frivolous and I would never choose a doctor based on magazine selection. What it does show, however, is that Dr. Sterling cares whether his patients and those who are with them are comfortable while in his office. "
